Wimbledon 1980 final rematch
A step into the world of Wimbledon in 1980. We brought to life the iconic Borg vs McEnroe final through a dramatic blend of theatre, 3D video projection, classic footage and an originally composed soundtrack.
Requirements
Working with the All England Lawn Tennis Club, in partnership with Rematch, we delivered this 5 hour live show, performed over 3 nights for an audience of over 1500.
A legendary men’s final - which is still regarded as the greatest tennis match ever played - recreated though scenery, film, live action and music. From the food to the costumes, no detail was overlooked, immersing guests fully in this 1980's trip down memory lane.
Project Highlights
An original concept presents original challenges. TPE took an empty studio and transformed it into an immersive space, including a 1980's themed bar, exhibition and 700 seater auditorium. Like McEnroe we enjoy a challenge. Balancing floor to ceiling projection mapping (best viewed in the dark), with live action and theatrical lighting, was certainly that. Ultimately, like Borg, we proudly consider it a win.We worked directly with TPE to launch and deliver our inaugural event. They came as a trusted event production partner and proved their technical expertise, collaborative approach and flawless delivery on budget.
